Inauguration of Kitchudumra Picket Post at Birdhang Bridge to Strengthen Inter-District Security


Namchi, 1st December (IPR): A new Kitchudumra Picket Post under Namchi Police Station was inaugurated today by Mr Bhoj Raj Rai, Minister for Urban Development Department (UDD) at Birdhang Bridge, Kitchudumra in Namchi district, today.

The inaugural ceremony was attended by Mr Karma Gyamtso Bhutia Sr SP Namchi, Mr Bikash Tiwari ASP Namchi, Mr Asish Bhujel SHO Namchi, along with police personnel, concerned officers and local public.

Mr Bhoj Raj Rai in his address commended Police department and the local public for their combined efforts in establishing the picket post, stating that it was a standing need of the area. He highlighted the strategic importance of the post, noting that several inter-district illegal activities had been reported in the area, making such a facility crucial for maintaining law and order.

He further appreciated the concern and initiative shown by the Police Department in pursuing the establishment of the picket post, stressing that the facility will strengthen efforts to curb drug trafficking.

Further, he acknowledged the department’s notable achievements in the ongoing fight against drugs. He went on to reaffirm his commitment to guiding the public towards a positive and constructive path.

Sr SP Namchi expressed gratitude to the local youths of Poklok-Kamrang for their contribution towards the establishment of the picket post. He lauded the strong partnership between the local public and the Police Department has been instrumental in realising this facility.

He also informed that the newly inaugurated picket post is proposed to be upgraded into an outpost very soon, and that an official notification in this regard will be issued in due course. He assured that proper law and order will be maintained from the facility to safeguard the region, particularly as Birdhang Bridge acts as a border between two districts.
