Engineers from DoT&CAv Inspect Tourism Potential Sites in Yuksam for Buddhist Circuit Development.

Gyalshing, May 5 (IPR):

Under the direction of the Minister for Tourism & Civil Aviation, Mr Tshering T Bhutia, a team of engineers and officials from the Department of Tourism & Civil Aviation conducted an extensive inspection of tourism potential sites in Yuksam, Gyalshing District,today.

The visit aimed to assess locations for development under the Government’s Buddhist Circuit scheme, as well as to review the status of existing tourism infrastructure in the area.

The inspection team was led by Principal Chief Engineer-cum-secratary Mr Neeraj Pradhan and included Chief Engineer Mr Pratap Gautam, Superintending Engineer Mr Ashok Chettri, divisional engineers, and other departmental officials from Department of Tourism & civil aviation.

During the visit, the team inspected

several sites of religious and historical importance, including Dubdi Monastery, regarded as the oldest monastery in Sikkim, followed by Hungri Monastery.

The officials assessed the potential for enhancing visitor facilities and improving accessibility while preserving the cultural and spiritual significance of these heritage sites.

Local stakeholders and representatives, including former Gram Panchayat President Mr Sonam Palden Denzongpa, Gram Panchayat Vice President Mr Karzang Bhutia, and Panchayat Member Ms Savitri Chettri, accompanied the team during the inspection and shared inputs on local development needs.

Later in the day, the team also reviewed ongoing and under-construction tourism infrastructure projects in Yuksam to ensure timely execution and adherence to quality standards.
