District Meeting Focuses on Community Wellbeing with Panchayat Advancement Index (PAI) 2.0.

The District Level Coordination Meeting for Panchayat Advancement Index 2.0 was held today at the conference hall of DAC, Pakyong, under the chairmanship of ADC Pakyong, Mr Sangay Gyatso Bhutia.
The Panchayat Advancement Index (PAI) 2.0 is a multi-domain and multi-sectoral index, intended to assess the overall holistic development, performance & progress of panchayats in various socio-economic indicators and parameters to gauge the well-being and development status of the local communities within the jurisdiction of a panchayat.
During the meeting, Panchayat Coordinator RDD, Mr Tenzing Dabla, emphasised the objectives of PAl 2.0 and its alignment with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), further stressing on the Localised SDGs through PAl 2.0 for grassroots development.
He further mentioned that the initiative is an effort to make Panchayati Raj Institutions (PRIs) vibrant centres of local self-governance and economic growth and has adopted a nine theme approach to localise SDGs, making them more relatable and actionable for panchayat and rural communities, which includes poverty-free and enhanced livelihood panchayat; healthy panchayat; child-friendly panchayat; water-sufficient panchayat; clean and green panchayat; self-sufficient infrastructure panchayat; socially secured panchayats; panchayats with good governance and women-friendly panchayat.
In addition, ADC Pakyong stressed the importance of inter-departmental coordination for the successful implementation of PAI 2.0 in the district. He then highlighted that collaboration among various departments will not only streamline processes but also ensure that the initiative's objectives are met efficiently, to benefit the community at grassroots level.
Likewise, the Block Development Officers from each block apprised the committee members on the performance status of GPUs under their block.
The meeting was then followed by an interactive session, during which the officials addressed their concerns and clarified queries.
The meeting was attended by CMO Pakyong, Mr Madan Mani Dhakal; Deputy Secretary, RDD, Mr Raju Pradhan; BDO’s from all six blocks along with officials from Rural Development Department.
