Chief Minister Hosts Dinner for Indian and Nepal Senior National Women’s Football Teams
Gangtok, October 28: Chief Minister Mr Prem Singh Tamang hosted a dinner in honour of the Indian and Nepal Senior National Women’s Football Teams at Samman Bhawan this evening.
The distinguished athletes are in Sikkim to participate in an international friendly football match scheduled for October 29 at the iconic Paljor Stadium, as part of the celebrations marking 50 years of Sikkim’s Statehood.
During the event, the Chief Minister interacted with the players and coaches of both teams, commending their dedication, discipline, and passion for the sport. He highlighted that their commitment reflects the growing prominence of women’s football in the region and across South Asia.
The Chief Minister extended his best wishes to both teams for the upcoming match and their future endeavours.
Also present at the occasion were Minister Mr. Raju Basnet, Mr Purushottam Kattel, General Secretary of the South Asian Football Federation (SAFF), Secretary Sports Madam Yangchen D Tamang, along with officials and staff from the Sikkim Football Association and the Chief Minister’s Office.
