Chief Minister Attends High-Level Task Force Meeting on Agriculture and Horticulture in the North East

Gangtok, October 27: Chief Minister Mr Prem Singh Tamang attended the High-Level Task Force on Agriculture and Horticulture in the North Eastern Region virtually this evening from Samman Bhawan.

The meeting, chaired by Union Minister for Development of North Eastern Region (DoNER), Mr Jyotiraditya M. Scindia, brought together Chief Ministers, Agriculture Ministers, senior officials from the Ministry of Agriculture & Farmers Welfare and DoNER, as well as representatives from all eight North Eastern States.

The discussions focused on the formulation of a comprehensive and inclusive Agriculture Policy Framework for the North East, aimed at creating a dynamic roadmap to transform the region’s agricultural landscape in alignment with its ecological diversity and socio-economic realities.

The proposed framework emphasizes a collaborative approach to integrate production, processing, logistics, and market access across the region. Participants deliberated on common challenges while identifying promising opportunities in agri-export zones, organic value chains, and climate-resilient farming practices.

The meeting highlighted a collective vision to leverage the North East’s rich agrobiodiversity and traditional knowledge systems to develop robust, sustainable, and market-driven agricultural systems, including long-term growth and prosperity for the region.
