Soreng, November 8 [IPR]: Late. Chief Minister of Sikkim Mr. Prem Singh Tamang present as Chief Guest on the last day of LD Kazi Memorial Gold Cup Football Tournament. Along with her wife Sharda Tamang also participated in the program.

In his address, the Chief Minister expressed his heartfelt thanks to the people of Chyakhung for years of strong trust and support. He valued the continued trust and support of the people here remembering the people of Chakhung region being elected the people's representative from 1994 to 2009.

Chief Minister late in 2008. Mentioning that L.D. Kazi Smriti Gold Cup has started, Sikkim's first Chief Minister and visionary leader late. This competition has been started as a tribute to LD Kazi. He said the competition has evolved as a prestigious sports program promoting sports, unity and youth participation in the state.

Expressing gratitude to the organizing committee for successfully organizing this year's Gold Cup, Soreng-Chyakhung region MLA and chief patron of the program Mr. Aditya Gole and late. LD Kazi also thanked family members.

Chief Minister Tamang praised the "Chakhung Run" half marathon launched this time and called it a commendable step towards health and youth empowerment. He said the state government put sports, education, health and social sector development a priority to empower youth.

Chief Minister announced “Chyakhung Run Sikkim” to be converted into international level competition in the coming years. This program self. L.D. Kazi will be a part of Smriti Gold Cup and Sports and Youth Affairs Department, Sikkim government said it will be managed.

Discussing ongoing development projects in Soreng district, Chief Minister mentioned plans like Netaji Subhashchandra Bose University of Excellence, reconstruction of historic Chyakhung Dak Bangla, Guru Dnyanadildas Dham Development and establishment of L.D. Kazi Adventure and Cultural Center. These schemes said to create local employment and opportunities along with promoting education, culture and tourism.

He also announced that educational fund will be awarded for the junior winners of "Sikkim Idol-". It said it aims to encourage talented children in the state towards arts and culture.

At last, the Chief Minister said that the government has continuously strived to empower women socially, economically and politically by reiterating the government's commitment to women empowerment and inclusive development. He urged the Sikkim residents to unite for the state's prosperity and progress through unity and cooperation.

Mr. Aditya Gole, MLA of Soreng Chyakhung, gave welcome to the program. He proposed to include the state-level marathon in the annual sports calendar, programs like these will promote physical health, community unity and the natural beauty and culture of the district.

The Chief Minister urges the residents of Soreng district to expand the homestay business, the chances of tourism will increase here with various development plans to be completed soon. He suggested visitors to prepare home accommodation in an experience of local culture and hospitality.

The cultural dance - songs presented by students from different schools in the program reflected the sense of cultural diversity and unity of Sorang district.

Chief Minister distributed prizes to the winners of different categories after the completion of the "Chakung Run" half marathon. Winners of both men and women categories were honored in the 21km 10km and 5km race. Saw the enthusiastic participation of youth in the competition.

Chief Minister awarded Honor and Congratulation letter to Mr. Premiyas Bhotia and Ms. Phurba Tamang for their outstanding contribution in the social sector.

Singling SC [Sorang] defeated Yangthang United [Galsing] with a two goal lead in the final match of the football tournament. Prakash Darji [Singling S.C., Soreng] declared as "Man of the Match". Dili Ram Sanyasi [Red Panda, Namchi] got the highest goal scorer title while Wilson Sherpa [Singling S.C., Soreng] was declared the best goalkeeper. Along with that Roshan Subba [Singling S.C., Soreng] has been declared the best player of the tournament.
