Gyalshing, 30 Jun (IPR): The ‘Asar Mahotsav’ organised by Sarvodaya Samaj was celebrated with grandeur at Lingchom in Gyalshing, West Sikkim.
Chief guest for the auspicious programme was Hon’ble Minister for FS&ADD, H&CCDD, AHLF & VS, IPR & Printing Departments, Shri L.N. Sharma, who was accompanied by Shri B.H. Limboo, Hon’ble Minister for PHE and Water Security as the guest of honor.
Shri L.N. Sharma, in his address, mentioned the achievements of the newly formed government under the leadership of Hon’ble Chief Minister Shri P.S. Tamang (Golay). He then strongly urged the public to participate in agricultural practices. He mentioned that he has advised the officials of his departments to visit the districts in order to understand the plight of the public at ground level so as to come out with possible solutions.
He further informed about the PM Scheme of giving financial aid to the farmers of Sikkim under the PM Kisan Scheme where an amount of Rs. 6000/- would be given to farmers in 3 installments as an honorarium for their contributions.
As an encouragement to the farmers, he informed that the establishment of Collection Centers would soon come into existence along with the concept of selecting a Model Village in each of the four districts of Sikkim where priority would be given to the agricultural growth practices.
Furthermore, he stated that all possible help would be extended by the government to help Sikkim’s farmers.
Shri B.H. Limboo spoke on the significance of ‘Asar Mahotsav’, how it was celebrated before and how it has progressed over the years. He also asked all officials to extend their helping hands for the benefit of the farmers.
The programme featured paddy planting ceremony by the chief guest and guest of honor along with other dignitaries and guests. The programme also had quiz competition, cultural extravaganza and other activities like mud football, volleyball, etc.
