Mangan, June 21 (IPR): North Sikkim celebrated 5th International Yoga Day 2019 here at Multi-Purpose Hall of Mangan Sr. Sec. School on Friday.
The programme started as early as around 6.00 A.M. with Yoga Instructor Smt. Sawkit Lepcha and Smt. Sonam Doma Bhutia. District Magistrate, Shri Raj Yadav and hundreds of yoga enthusiasts began it with chanting of ‘Om’ and then performed different Yoga asanas.
The theme of 5th International Yoga Day 2019 was “Climate Action”.
Yoga Day is celebrated every year on 21 June to raise awareness worldwide about the benefits of Yoga in daily life. Yoga brings balance between body, soul and mind. It helps us to understand the purpose of life and how to survive in the changing environment
Speaking on the significance of the Yoga, DM/N, Shri Yadav stated that Yoga is not just a set of exercises that keeps the body fit. It is a key to fitness and wellness, further he insisted the yoga enthusiasts to practice yoga asanas everyday to stay fit in both term physically and mentally.
