Mangan, June 19:
District Collector, North, Shri Raj Yadav, IAS visited Munshighang Landslide area for proper coordination of the transshipment of stranded tourists today.
After visiting the place it has been found that Lachen to chungthang road is blocked at three or four places and it is not possible to open the road soon.
As per report, it may take approximately 4 to 5 days to clear the road for vehicles to ply over. Therefore, Administration has decided to transship all tourists through SNT buses and hired vehicles.
For said purpose SNT buses are arrived at Chungthang, today. From Lachen to Chaten Tourists have to cross the road on foot and after that hired vehicles will be available for Chungthang. From Chungthang to Gangtok SNT buses will be used.
All tour operators have been informed to send vehicles tomorrow to pick tourists. Proper coordination has been ensured with Army, Police, ITBP and GREF for transshipment, Medical Facilities and other issues have also been ensured.
Advisor and President, Travel Agent Association of Sikkim also visited the area and after a meeting with hotel owners, fooding and lodging for all tourists are made free, now there is no issue of fooding and lodging at Lachen.
Due to power supply disruption mobile connectivity is one issue at lachen, therefore contact numbers of family members of all stranded tourist have been collected and all are being informed about tourist’s safety.
