Namchi, 1st June:District Legal Services Authority (South) and Taluk Legal Services Committee (South) in coordination with the Sikkim State Legal Services Authority organized a Legal Services Camp as well as a Legal Awareness at Officers Club, Car Plaza, Namchi, today.
The purpose of the Legal Services Camps are to spread awareness about welfare legislations and schemes and strengthen the community’s access to the schemes being implemented by the Legal Services Authority and other Departments of the Government. Today’s program focussed mainly on NALSA (Legal Services to the Senior Citizens) Scheme, 2016. This camp aimed at identifying and connecting people specially senior citizens welfare schemes to ensure that fruits of the welfare schemes are passed to the eligible Senior Citizens. The camp also looked into understanding their legal needs and addressing their legal problems by giving appropriate legal advice.
The program was launched by the Hon’ble Chairman, DLSA (South) Mr. Jiwan Kumar Kharka in the presence of the Secretary DLSA (South), Ms. Jwala D. Thapa, Ld. Panel Advocates, Mr. Anjan Sharma, Mr. Bhim S. Pradhan, Ms. Sangita Subba, Medical Specialist (District Hospital Namchi), Mr. Tarzen Subba (Additional Director, PGIPF Divison / Pension Cell, Gangtok), Mr. Nakul Rawat, Social Welfare Officer, Mr. Manab Esh (Development Officer of LIC, Gangtok), Mr. Ugen Tshering Bhutia, Police Inspector (Namchi, Police Station) and Para-Legal Volunteers.
The attendees were senior and retired citizens of Namchi and surrounding areas. Dr. Sangita Subba, Medical Specialist (District Hospital Namchi) conducted health check-up of Senior citizens. The attendees interacted with the officers and representatives of the Departments present to address their problems and to procure appropriate advice and guidance.
