Namchi, 17 May (IPR): The last and final round of training for the Counting Supervisors and Counting Assistants for South District was held at DAC conference hall in Namchi today. District Collector (South), Mr Ragul K., chaired the training in the presence of Additional District Collector (South), Mr Satyen K Pradhan, Sub Divisional Magistrate (HQ), Mr Hemant Rai, and other election officials.
Addressing the gathering, DC South, Mr Ragul, instructed the attendees to report at the Counting hall located at Namchi Senior Secondary School at the stipulated time on the Counting day i.e., on 23rd May 2019. These counting officials will be given an order via the randomization process and they will be assigned to the respective counting tables for counting of votes.
He further informed that there shall be four counting halls, two each for Assembly Constituencies and Assembly segments of Parliamentary Constituencies, wherein thirty counting tables shall be set up. In each hall, there shall be a Counting table designated as VVPAT counting booth wherein the VVPAT slips of five VVPAT machines shall be counted. The postal ballots of the eight Assembly Constituencies shall be counted only in the counting hall no 1 and 4.
Only the votes registered in the EVMs of the Assembly Segments of PC shall be counted by the respective AROs of South District.He also added that the counting of votes shall continue till the midnight of 23rd May 2019.
Sub Divisional Magistrate, Ravangla, Mr Jigmee Bhutia, imparted the counting training procedure along with hands on training on use of Control Unit and VVPATs.
During the course of the training, it was informed that the participants can do the hands on training till 21st May.
