The second randomization of EVMs and VVPATs for all 13 Assembly Constituencies including Sangha and Sikkim Parliamentary Constituency

Gangtok, April 1 (IPR): The second randomization of EVMs and VVPATs for all 13 Assembly Constituencies including Sangha and Sikkim Parliamentary Constituency as per the guidelines of Election Commission of India was conducted at the Office of District Election Officer (East)/Returning Officer Mr. Kapil Meena today.

The randomization was carried through EMS Software in the presence of General Observers for Assembly Constituencies and Parliamentary Constituencies, District NIC Officials, contesting candidates and representatives of Political Parties.

District Election Officer (East)/Returning Officer Mr. Kapil Meena said that the purpose of second randomization of EVMs and VVPATs is to allocate EVMs and VVPATs randomly to Polling stations for Assembly Constituency and Parliamentary Constituency. After the allocation of EVMs and VVPATs for each Polling Station, the final list of CU, BU and VVPATs with details, identified machine numbers allocated to Assembly Constituency and Parliamentary Constituency was handed over to all the Contesting Candidates and Political Parties.

Mr. Kapil Meena also informed that the opening of Strong Room at Biraspati Parasi Senior Secondary School, Ranipool will commence on 2nd April at 9 A.M. which will be followed by commissioning of EVMs and VVPATs in presence of General Observers contesting candidates or their representatives to witness the opening of strong room and commissioning process.

The Commissioning process of EVMs and VVPATs belonging to Sikkim Parliamentary Constituency scheduled to held on 2nd and 3rd April and for 13 Assembly Constituencies including Sangha Constituency will be held on 4th and 5th April.

During the commissioning process contesting candidates or their representatives will be allowed to do mock poll on the machines also. The complete process of commissioning will be videographed and all security measures of 24X7 security, CCTV coverage, fire extinguisher and frisking of all participants. Electronic devices will also be not allowed inside the commissioning halls
