Team of officials of the Office of the CEO, Sikkim and the DEO, East Sikkim visited the Strong Rooms and the Counting Centers for the east district at Brihaspati Parsai Senior Secondary School

Gangtok, March 24 (IPR): In preparation for the upcoming general
elections, a team of officials of the Office of the CEO, Sikkim and
the DEO, East Sikkim visited the Strong Rooms and the Counting
Centers for the east district at Brihaspati Parsai Senior Secondary
School, Ranipool.

Comprising of the Chief Election Commissioner of Sikkim-Shri R.
Telang, the Spcl. CEO- Shri Prabhakar Verma, DEO/East- Shri Kapil Meena who is the Returning Officer for East ,ADC/East and Returning Officer/East- Shri Bharani Kumar, Assistant Returning Officers,
concerned officials and the Principal of the School, the main purpose
of the visit of the team to the Strong Room was to take stock of the
preparations and progress for the safe keeping of the EVMs and the
VVPATs at the newly constructed Strong Rooms there and various other core details for the counting centres to be set up in the school
premises.

The team took a thorough round of the entire venue and scrutinized the
security arrangements in place, installation of CCTV Cameras and 24/7 monitoring at the control room, barricading of the counting centres,
waiting areas for the representatives of the political parties,
guarded entrances and exits at the venue, along with other
nitty-gritties. One section of SSB Armed Force has been deployed at
the venue and will continue till the day of polling. The Roads
Department was instructed to immediately take up the surface
improvement and carpetting work on the road leading up to the school
ground.

The team expressed satisfaction at the headway that is being achieved
and directed the concerned officials and staff to ensure that there is
no room for laxity towards ensuring a smooth election process for the
east district.
