Gangtok, 11 Feb ( IPR): The first preparatory meeting in regards to the upcoming visit of Hon’ble Vice President of India, Shri M. Venkaiah Naidu, was chaired by the Chief Secretary of Sikkim, Shri A K Shrivastava, today.
Held at the Conference Hall at New Tashiling Secretariat, the preparatory meeting was attended by Head of Departments and officials of all the departments of the State Government, Central Organizations and Agencies which are involved in the visit of the Hon’ble Vice President.
After briefing the officials about the tentative itinerary of the Hon’ble Vice President’s visit, the Chief Secretary took stock of the proposed programmes on the venues where the Vice President is scheduled to visit. He took updates of the current status on roads, security and various other essentials that are required to be in excellent form for the success of the high level visit.
The Chief Secretary directed all to ensure that the salient responsibilities under each of the department/ organization concerned is looked after and adhered to. He also informed that alternate plans for the carcade and reception are put in place and ready for implementation in case of weather setbacks and other emergencies.
Shri AK Shrivastava also directed the officials of all the venues where the Vice President is set to visit ,to submit draft invitations, dais plans, draft speeches and other proposals at the earliest. He solicited cooperation from all those involved towards a grand and successful reception from the State during the visit of the Hon’ble Vice President to Sikkim.
The Hon’ble Vice President, Shri M Venkaiah Naidu, is scheduled to visit Sikkim on 25 Feb. His two-day schedule is set to take him to Raj Bhawan, Mintokgang, National Research Centre for Orchids at Pakyong and Rajya Sainik Board Complex and the Sikkim Manipal Institute of Medical Sciences at Gangtok where he will be laying foundation stones of important infrastructures, visiting the complexes and meeting and interacting with the officials,students and staff at the proposed venues.
