Disability Screening Camp

Mangan, 19th January (IPR): A Disability Screening Camp for Persons with Disability (PWD) was held today at Mangan District Hospital. The Screening Camp was conducted by the officers from Social Justice Empowerment and Welfare Department and medical specialists from STNM Hospital. The Screening camp was coordinated and organized by the District Collector North for the benefit of the PWDs.
A total of 100 persons from all over the district availed the screening camp at Mangan District Hospital. The eligible beneficiaries were enrolled under various pension schemes of the state government.
A Systematic Voter Education and Electoral Participation (SWEEP) Awareness drive was also held during the screening camp where the people were given awareness on VVPAT and voting with VVPAT. The Voter Verifiable Paper Audit Trail (VVPAT) machines are being used for the first time in the ensuing General Elections 2019 and the district election department intends to provide massive awareness to the general public. The Election Department also collected Form 6 for enrollment of left out PWDs in the electoral rolls.
The public of the district greatly benefited from the above camp and they expressed their gratitude to the doctors, officers from Social Justice and the District Administration for arranging the screening camp.
