Jorethang, January 17th(IPR): Jorethang Maghey Sankranti Mela, 2019 is striving to be a zero-waste celebration. This year the Maghey Mela Organizing Committee (MMOC) has joined hands with Communication and Capacity Development Unit (CCDU), State Institute of Rural Development (SIRD) in collaboration with Zero Waste Group Sikkim towards a zero waste festivity.
One can find dustbins segregated into various kinds of bio-degradable and non-biodegradable category. The waste bins are divided into plastic, cartoons, pet bottles, thermocol, paper and tetra packs.
These, kind of dusbins are kept at the main venue of the mela which is at Jorethang Playground so that the stakeholders can enable to create a sustainable
community which can be responsible in reducing the amount of waste, generated by the masses.
