Sadam, 31st December(IPR): The Chief Minister Mr. Pawan Chamling wished joy and prosperity for everyone on the occassion of new year while inaugurating the three day long Tarey Bhir Kite Fiesta at Sadam today. Organized, by South Sikkim Tourism Development Society, (SSTDS) Sadam , the programme had the presence of MLA Ms. Tilu Gurung, Chairmans, Advisors, representatives from Namchi Municipal Council, Panchayats and public at large.
Addressing, the gathering Chief Minister spoke in-depth about the significance of this kite festival which he termed as an extremely unique concept and has the advantage of attracting an end number of tourist. He also highlighted how the State Government has always supported the various types of tourism festival thereby strengthening the tourism sector and enriching the lives of the public. He also spoke on the tourism industry which is multi dimension in nature wherein public can explore the various kinds of homestay, village, pilgrimage and many other kinds of tourism. He also urged the youths to identify the various tourism spots in the villages and promote these spots amongst the visiting sightseers. The CM also encouraged the youths to adopt the modern technology with regards to tourism sector and collectively dedicate towards building a state in which tourism is the highest employable revenue generating sector. He also informed that the State Government has provided atleast one thousand homestays till date and will continue to support the tourism industry.
Additionally, the Chief Minister in-principal declared to give Mangshir Purne as state holidays in accordance to the beliefs of the Bhujel community.
He further enumerated the advantages that the public will receive at the Sarkhari Rojgar Mela which is scheduled to be held on12th January at Gangtok. The Chief Minister articulated that this mela is being conducted in order to give equal employment opportunity to the public in various State Government departments. He also shared the details of the ensuing Janta Mela starting from 16th January at Paljor Stadium, Gangtok and shared the various benefits that the public will receive including the sanction orders of the request placed during the 32 days long Sikkim Jan Sewa, Jan Samman Abhiyan.
The CM also emphasized the various progress that the State Government has brought to the State till date in the field of education, organic agriculture,women empowerment, gender equality, assistance to senior citizens, rural development, tourism and many more. He also articulated that the State Government has given equal rights to all the communities present in the state in order to unitedly elevate these communities. He also underlined that the State Government will in future push in transforming the barren lands into that of a cultivatable land.
The Chief Minister was also felicitated by the organizing committee for his unwavering efforts in upliftment of the State. He alongwith the dignitaries also felicitated the best homestay proprietor Mr. Binod Pradhan from Saloum homestay at Sukrabarey, Mr. Dew Prashad Pradhan and Mr. Guman Singh Pradhan of Sadam and Sukrabarey as the most progressive organic and dairy farmer.
It maybe mentioned here that the special attraction of this three day long festival will encompass a tree house, organic vegetables and fruit exhibition, traditional food stall, cycling, traversing, canopy walk, traditional lingay ping and helicopter joy ride.
