Hee Bermiok Eco Tourism Festival Concludes

Geyzing, 5th December  (IPR): The two day long Eco Tourism Festival organized by Forest, Environment and Wild Management Department and funded by SBFP-JICA concluded today at the Hee Bermiok Water Garden. The valedictory day of the festival was attended by Minister for Rural Management and Development, Shri. S. B Subedi as the Chief Guest along with Shri. N. K. Subba, Minister, UD&HD; officials from forest department and Line Departments were also present in the festival.
Minister S.B Subedi in his brief address appreciated the initiative taken up for promotion of Eco-tourism by the Forest Department. He stressed the need for development and promotion of the Eco tourism sector in the state is a must as this sector could provides opportunities for employment to the youths and public alike. He expressed that need for proper mangement of Hee Water Garden in a better way is felt so that objectives of catering tourism based activities in the locality are fulfilled. He also mentioned that management of tourism based infrastructures in proper way could help the tourism sector to flourish in West Sikkim. Subedi mentioned that the state government has worked committedly for the development of tourism sector and claimed that the sector is flourishing rapidly and in return the citizens to be self employed and financially stable.
In the festival the photography competition, traditional houses competition and other ethnic cultural competitions were also included to boost the morale of the participants. Cultural presentations from Remanti Sangit Academy were other extravagant in the event.
