Pabyuik, 27th november : (IPR) The Hon’ble Chief Minister Shri Pawan Chamling inaugurated the newly constructed Pabyuik monastery today. After his arrival and inauguration he took a tour of the new Gompa and the surrounding areas.
Thereafter a cultural programme was held which featured mask dance by monks of the Gonpa, Nepali dance, Lepcha dance followed by the enthralling Singhey dance.
The Chief Minister in his address stated that education is of primary importance and it should be about holistic development making a person capable, confident and it should serve the purpose of human development which is fundamental to development of any state or nation. He said that free laptops will be distributed to Class X, XI, XII and college students by January and even the Self Help Groups will avail of this benefit this time.
Shri Chamling stated that the state government has been working relentlessly to provide better welfare measures to the people of Sikkim. Tourism and Organic farming he said can be a great source of employment in view of the state’s potential in these two sectors. Thus the unemployed youths should take the facilities such as Start-Up Scheme and be self-reliant and self-sufficient. Agriculture is the only profession that will never become redundant and always remain a perennial income generating job thus he encouraged the youths towards farming and dairy farming.
The Chief Minister also said that unutilized government lands should be allotted to ‘Sukumbasis’ and if the government land is not sufficient, private land at government rate should be purchased. He also said that all the demands which have been placed by people during his 32 days Jan Sampark Abhiyan have all been sanctioned for the benefit of the Sikkimese people.
The Hon’ble Chief Minister also made the following announcements:
i. Fencing and beautification of the Pabyuik Gompa compound
ii. Sum of Rs 50 lakhs to Pema Choling Gompa
iii. Rs 50 lakhs to Sher Sonam Choling Gompa
iv. Additional demand of Mani Lakhang sanctioned
v. Additional sum of Rs 30 lakhs to Lower Syari Gompa
vi. Construction of road from Gairigolai
vii. Lower Tathangchen road which has been blocked to be reopened and sum of Rs 20 lakhs for the same.
viii. Recommendation of Pabyuik Monastery as a heritage to UNESCO
ix. House upgradation increased to Rs 50,000
x. Recruitment of Grievance Redressal Assistants, Village Police Assistant Guards and Environment Protection Assistants at every GPU level.
The Hon’ble Chief Minister was also felicitated by the Duchi Committee of Pabyuk Gonpa, Dharma Friends Group of Tathangchen and Senior Citizens from 23 Syari Constituency. Organic produce was also offered to the Hon’ble Chief Minister by Pastanga Mani Lakhang.
The programme also had the presence of MLAs, Mayor, Zilla Members, Chairpersons, HODs, and local gentry at large.
