Gangtok, 26th November (IPR): The Constitution Day was celebrated today at Manan Kendra under the guidance of the Chief Secretary Shri A.K.Shrivastava.
This year the country is celebrating the 128th Birth Anniversary of Dr. B.R.Ambedkar who was also the Chairman of the Drafting Committee of the Constitution which was finally adopted on 26th November 1949. The Government of India has thus decided to celebrate 26th November as the Constitution Day.
In his short address, the Chief Secretary, Shri. A.K.Shrivastava spoke about the various features of Indian Constitution and its importance to the country. He also read out the Preamble of the Indian Constitution which was followed by all those present.
Chief Secretary, Shri. A.K. Shrivastava, Additional Chief Secretary Finance-cum-Development Commissioner, Shri. V. B. Phatak, HoDs, officials and staffs of various departments were present.
