First Level Checking of EVMs & VVPATs concludes for North district

Mangan, 21 Nov (IPR): First Level Checking (FLC) for all Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) and Voter Verifiable Paper Audit Trails (VVPATs) in the district was completed today at Zilla Bhawan. The FLC of the EVMs was done under the supervision of District Election Officer, Shri Karma R Bonpo, in the presence of representatives of various political parties.

A total of 159 EVMs and 156 VVPATs were checked by the engineers from Bharat Electronics Limited (BEL) and 1 Ballot Unit, 3 Control Units and 8 VVPATs were found to be defective. The defective EVMs and VVPATS will be sent to the company in Bangalore for repairs.

The team of District Election Officer led by Sub Divisional Magistrate, Mangan, Shri P.W. Lepcha, conducted a mock poll in five percent of the machines in the presence of political parties. The representatives of the political parties were fully satisfied with the mock poll.

The FLC certified EVMs are stored in the strong room and will be under round the clock supervision of the Police Department.
