Soreng, July 5 (IPR): A meeting focusing on the crucial issue of mitigating problems caused by surface runoff of water was held at Office of the District Collector Soreng today.
This meeting was held under the chairmanship of Mr Dhiraj Subedi District Collector(DC) of Soreng. The meeting saw the participation of Mr DR Bista ADM, Mr Gayas Pegha ADC (Dev.) Mr Sunny Kharel SDM (Soreng), Heads of Offices, officers and officials from various line departments.
The primary focus of the discussions was on channelizing a proper way for water drainage to protect public properties, minimise the damages and diverting the water route from Jautaar Stadium Complex to Rani Khola near Soreng. The key topics included were problems caused by the current drainage system, enhancement of existing ‘Jhoras’ to improve water flow and prioritization of water drainage system to handle surface runoff effectively.
Several important proposals were also put forward during the meeting such as formation of a committee led by the DC to oversee the implementation of drainage solutions, development of a comprehensive Detailed Project Report (DPR) which would also include plans for a new District Administrative Center (DAC) building, conducting a preliminary survey by the field functionaries of the line and land revenue departments led by the RO/AD in-order to create a detailed route map for the drainage system and enhancing coordination with the Panchayats of Soreng and Mangasari Gram Panchayat Units (GPUs) .
It is to be noted that the upcoming coordination meeting has been scheduled for 18th July, 2024 to further discuss and streamline the initiatives discussed followed by the inspection and survey by the team on 19th July, 2024.
