West District Administration promotes Organic Farming in Budang, West Sikkim

Gyalshing, 21st  Nov (IPR): Under the program from ‘File to Field’, an initiative of the DC West, a ‘Field day on Paddy cum Kisan Ghosti’ program was organized by the Krishi Vigyan Kendra, West District (KVK) at Budang, West Sikkim. The program was chaired by the District Collector Dr. A. B. Karki along with Deputy Director KVK and other officials.
The District Collector whilst addressing the gathering stated that his visitation was a form of encouragement to the KVK officials and the farmers who are carrying forwards the HCMs vision of Organic Farming to new heights. He mentioned that the simple life of the farmers go unnoticed many a times but without their contributions towards the state and without their produce the state cannot move forward hence his visit to Budang was to promote organic Sikkim and to felicitate the farmers for their works by spending a day with them and walking in their shoes for a day. He stated that their contributions towards the state is noteworthy and valuable.
The DC interacted with the farmers and participated in the harvest of the paddy along side the Deputy Director KVK and other officials. .
Shri. T. N. Bhutia, Deputy Director, KVK explained the mechanisms and the proper use of the tools needed for agricultural growth and development. He also showed how the biodegradable plastics provided by the Government for food grain storage was beneficial and effective for their produce.
The District Collector along with Officials of KVK distributed the medicines and other necessary items needed to improve the produce to the farmers present during the program
