LAUNCH OF STOP DIARRHOEA CAMPAIGN AT RANKA BAC BY RCH WING OF HEALTH AMD FAMIKY WELFARE DEPARTMENT
1/7/24: A comprehensive two-month Stop Diarrhoea Campaign was launched to combat childhood diarrhoea, focusing on prevention, treatment, and public awareness by RCH wing in collaboration with Sang PHC and SIECB at Ranka BAC.
The programme was attended by Zilla Panchayat, Panchayat President, Panchayat of various wards, Director – SIECB, Director – RCH, Jt.Director – RCH, Medical Officer, HEO, BPM and Staff of Sang PHC, Staff of Ranka HWC, ASHAs, AWWs, representatives from line departments and religious leaders.
The initiative involves the pre-positioning of ORS packets and zinc for children under five. Extensive Information, Education, and Communication (IEC) efforts will be made through various platforms, engaging multiple sectors, including health, water and sanitation, education, and rural development.
Previously, the diarrhoea strategy included a two-week campaign with limited IEC and the distribution of ORS to under-five children. The 2024 campaign slogan, “डायरिया को रोकथाम, सफाई र ओआरएसले राखनुहोस आफ्नो ध्यान” , emphasizes the importance of cleanliness and proper treatment.
During the programme posters were also released by the present and ORS packets distributed. The ASHA of the area present were distributed with ASHA diary for 2024 -2025.
Key activities will include:
Distribution of ORS packets and Zinc by ASHA workers to households with under five children.
Setting up ORS-Zinc corners at health facilities and Anganwadi centers.
Enhanced advocacy and awareness efforts for effective diarrhoea management.
Strengthened service provision for diarrhoea case management.
The campaign aims to achieve zero child deaths due to childhood diarrhoea, rebranding the longstanding Intensified Diarrhoea Control Fortnight (IDCF) as the STOP Diarrhoea Campaign. Initiated in 2014, this effort focuses on the Prevent, Protect, and Treat (PPT) strategy, promoting the use of Oral Rehydration Solution (ORS) and Zinc to save young lives.
