A counseling and an awareness program was conducted at Government Senior Secondary School Tharpu, Soreng Sikkim in collaboration with school’s Red Ribbon club and NSS which was led by resource person Mrs. Tek Maya Sharma, Protection Officer from Women and Child Development Department,District Child Protection Unit Soreng District.
The session focused on child and adolescent health, emphasizing Child Protection issues and the POCSO Act, 2012.Strategies like self-protection which includes self-defense and measures dealing with such situations. Mrs. Sharma encouraged students to seek help without fear.The session included an overview of the POCSO Act 2012 and its provisions, legal rights of children, and the role of the District Child Protection Unit.
Students participated actively asking questions and expressing concerns, which were addressed with empathy and guidance.
The event concluded with gratitude to Mrs.Tek Maya Sharma for her insightful contributions. The program equipped students with essential knowledge and confidence to address the problems related to Children and understand their rights under the POCSO Act 2012 and several other Adolescent health reated issues.
