Mr Tshering T Bhutia, recently appointed Minister for Department of Tourism and Aviation and Department of Commerce & Industries, assumed office here at Department of Commerce and Industries in Tadong today.
He was welcomed by Mr Karma R Bonpo Secretary, Commerce and Industries, Government of Sikkim, in a brief ceremony held at the conference hall of the department.
The Secretary highlighted the department’s importance as a key contributor to the state’s GSDP, noting its indirect impact through the presence of industrial units.
The department presented a Power- Point on its operations, highlighting key activities such as the flagship Skill Youth Startup programme and subsidiary schemes like NEIDS, UNNATI, NEIIEP, RAMP, and the World Bank-funded Sikkim Inspires project.
The Minister thanked the employees of the department for a warm welcome and urged them to work together as an extended family for the welfare of Sikkim.
The Minister emphasised that the department’s schemes could significantly help reduce unemployment in the state.
Corporation and coordination was requested by the minister from the employees to frame policies towards development of Sikkim.
The ceremony also had the presence of Mr M Ravi Kumar,Director MSME, Ms Choden Gyatso, Additional Secretary, Mr Topden Zangpo, Joint Secretary,Mr H P Kharel, MD SIDICO, Mr Tarzan Subba, MD STCS, Ms Chanda Rani Rai, MD GFPF, Mr Tsh Dorjee Bhutia, JD DHH, Mr Durga Kr Rai, JD DHH.
Additionally Senior officials of the department, Temi Tea & SKVIB along with officials from District Industrial Centre’s also attended the programme.
The Minister further assumed office at the Tourism and Civil Aviation department in Tadong.
Mr Sudesh Kr Subba Advisor Tourism also attended the welcome ceremony at Tourism Department.They were welcomed by Mr. C.S. Rao ,Principal Secretary, Tourism and Civil Aviation Department, Mr Prakash Chhetri, Secretary, Tourism & Civil Aviation Department, officials of the department, PSUs and members of TAAS.
It must be noted here that Mr Tshering Thendup Bhutia was elected to the Legislative Assembly as a representative of the 01 Yoksam-Tashiding Assembly Constituency.
