Chief Minister Mr Prem Singh Tamang announced his resignation as the MLA of 07-Soreng-Chakung constituency, expressing heartfelt gratitude to the people of Sikkim, especially those from the 07-Soreng-Chakung.
He praised their unconditional support and dedication, noting that their efforts were so profound that he did not need to campaign in these areas, which resulted in securing the highest votes in Sikkim.
In his statement, he extended thanks on behalf of the Sikkim Krantikari Morcha Party and acknowledged the trust and support from the people of these constituencies, which he described as the pillars of their success.
Citing the Conduct of Election Rules 1961, Section 67/A, he highlighted the requirement to relinquish one of the two constituencies within 14 days of the election results declaration. With the deadline approaching on June 15, he made the announcement with a heavy heart, apologizing to the people of 07-Soreng-Chakung as he steps aside to allow an honest and loyal party functionary to serve as their legislator.
Despite his resignation, the Chief Minister assured continued commitment to serving the constituency, emphasizing his deep personal connection to Soreng-Chakung, where he was born and raised. He pledged ongoing support and assistance to the residents.
He congratulated and thanked the people of the 07-Soreng-Chakung constituency for their unity, dedication, and sacrifice, vowing to remain forever grateful and honored to be their MLA in spirit.
The Chief Minister further urged everyone to remain united in their vision for a prosperous Sikkim and to work together for the benefit of the state, wishing all happiness, peace, and prosperity.
