DMIC team from Korea calls on Hon’ble CM, proposes Smart Parking project to minimise parking complexities

Gangtok, 15 Nov (IPR): A team from the DMIC Engineering and Manufacturing Co. Ltd., Republic of Korea represented by Mr. Setiawan Cho, Mr. Don I.B. Jang and Mr. Hemant Swarop from The Trade Office, Embassy of Republic of Korea, Gurgaon called on Hon’ble Chief Minister Shri Pawan Chamling at his official residence in Mintokgang today.

PHE Secretary, Mr. Sonam Dadul Bhutia, in brief explained about the problem of traffic management and scarcity of parking areas in the State. He then briefed about the proposed plan of Smart Parking and stated that representatives from DMIC, Korea with their expertise and technological proficiency have put forward the proposal for development, manufacturing, installation and maintenance of mechanical car parking system at places opted by the State Government. Smart Parking is the solution which deals with the complexities of lack of parking facilities, he added.

The team from the DMIC Engineering and Manufacturing Co. Ltd, Republic of Korea then showed a presentation on Smart Parking and explained how it minimises the use of space and maximises the area for parking vehicles.

The CM directed the heads of concerned departments to start work for the pilot project and see the feasibility of the same.

Talking about the brand Organic Sikkim, the team from Korea proposed their interest in Organic produce of Sikkim. They stated that the Organic produce will have a great market in Korea and they were willing to buy the produce under the brand name of Sikkim and sell it in their country.

The CM asked for their expertise and intellectual inputs in this regard and stated that if it helped the farmers of Sikkim and build the brand name of Organic Sikkim with processing units set up in the State, this proposal could also be considered.

Principal Secretary, Finance, Revenue & Expenditure Department-cum-Development Commissioner, Mr. V.B. Pathak, asked the team to submit the specifications and requirements at the earliest.

The meeting also had the presence of Mayor, Mr. Shakti Singh Choudhary, Secretary, Agriculture Department and Organic Mission, Mr. Khorlo Bhutia, Secretary, UDHD, Mrs. Ganga Pradhan, CEO, Smart City Gangtok, Mr. Tshewang Gyaccho.
