PM Poshan Orientation Program cum coordination meeting with school heads under Soreng district

Soreng, 29 May: The ‘PM Poshan Orientation Program’ cum coordination meeting with school heads under Soreng district was held at Buriakhop Senior Secondary School today. Attending the program as the chief guest of the program was Mr Sonam Denzongpa Principal Director (Education Department, Gangtok) who was accompanied by Mrs Pemba Lhamu Joint Director (PM Poshan), Mr Pema T. Bhutia AD (PM Poshan).
The program also had the presence of Mr KBChettri Chief Education Officer (Education Department Soreng), Mr MK Khewa Joint Director (Education Department Soreng), Mr Ithing Subba Deputy Director (PM, Poshan Soreng District), along with ADs
AEOs of 6 BACs and Head of Institutes (HOIs) under Soreng District.
The program started with brief presentation by Mr Subash Gurung, MIS coordinator PM Poshan Soreng District. In addition to the presentation made by the district, Mr Pema T Bhutia AD HQ emphasized on compulsory consumption of mid day meal by all the students and suggested the HOIs to give sensitization on PM Poshan to parents and students and make the project successful .
Resource person from RBSK Dr. Menuka Tamang (Nodal Officer), Mrs Yamuna Dhungel (Counsellor RBSK), Mrs Tek Maya Sharma (P.O, Child Welfare & Development Program) were invited for presentation on their respective topics on RBSK and POCSO respectively.
During the presentation Dr Menuka Tamang focused on detection of multiple disease/ disorder in children and also suggested on improvement of health conditions of the student through nutritions and hygienic poshan (mid day meal) where Mrs Yamuna Dhungel suggested to avoid consumption of junk foods by students. Mrs Tek Maya delivered a short speech on POSCO and guided on way and means of protection and safety at school and home regarding the topic.
Mr KB Chettri in his address to the gathering with important matters realated to training, online attendance, mid day meal, maintaining various registers. He focused on learning enhancement and academic excellence and suggested HOIs to be vigilant and focus on guidance and counseling of the students and also to focus on academics of the students.
Mr Sonam Denzongpa Principal Director addressed the gathering focussing on importance of mid day meal ,proper record keeping of data and to provide nutritious food to the children. He motivated the gathering with stories of real life experiences. He also suggested the HOIs to focus on academics part which is very important.
An interactive session between the HOIs and Departmental officers was also part of the program.
