DEO-cum-DC Gangtok reviews preparations for counting day and security arrangements

Gangtok, May 29 (IPR): To ensure the smooth conduct of vote counting for the General Elections 2024, DEO-cum-DC Gangtok Mr. Tushar G. Nikhare conducted an extensive inspection of the venues around DIET College in Burtuk today.
Accompanied by Mr. Karma Gyamtso Bhutia, Superintendent of Police (SP) Gangtok, Mr. Rohan Agawane, ADC Gangtok, Mr. Sonam W. Lepcha, District Planning Officer Gangtok, Mr. Passang Lepcha, Additional SP Gangtok, Mr. Pravin Lamichaney, Additional SP Gangtok (Traffic), Ms. Bijayata Kharel, Training Officer DDMA Gangtok, and other key officials, the DEO visited the DIET College and Burtuk Helipad.
During the inspection, the premises around DIET Law college which is designated as mobile collection centre was reviewed for functionality of essential facilities.
Additionally, the security arrangements were thoroughly evaluated to ensure comprehensive readiness.
The visit also included a thorough evaluation of the parking allotment at Burtuk Helipad, specifically designated for officials on election duties within Gangtok district. This assessment aimed to ensure that there would be adequate and well-organised parking facilities to accommodate all election personnel, thereby facilitating a smooth and efficient operation on the day of counting the election results.
The evaluation also considered the ease of access for vehicles, the safety and security of parked vehicles, and the overall logistics to prevent any congestion or delays.
Similarly, an inspection of the SCERT premises was conducted to ensure all provisions were in place for the comfort and convenience of counting officials on counting day.
