Namchi, 13 Nov (IPR): On the auspicious occasion of Chhath Puja, Hon’ble Governor Shri Ganga Prasad and first lady, Smt Kamala Devi, offered prayers at Siddheshwara Dham in Namchi today. Also present were District Collector (South), Mr. Prabhakar Verma, Senior Superintendent of Police (South), Mr. Shami Rai, Sub Divisional Magistrate (Headquarter), Mr. Hemant Rai, SDM (Ravangla), Mr. Jigme W. Bhutia, alongside other officials.
It maybe mentioned here, Chhath Puja is one of the most ancient Hindu Vedic festivals which is widely celebrated in the country. The festival is dedicated to the worship of the Sun god or Surya Dev and his wife Goddess Usha.
Thereafter, the Governor and the first lady also visited Tathagata Tsal wherein they both took a brief tour of the premises, visited the main shrine of the Tsal and extended their prayers.
