DC Mangan chairs Monsoon Preparedness Meeting

Mangan, May 4 (IPR): The annual monsoon preparedness meeting was conducted at the election hall of DAC Mangan, today.
Chaired by Mr Hem Kumar Chettri DC Mangan , the meeting was attended by, Mr Sonam Detchu S.P Managn, Mr Vishu Lama ADM Mangan, SDMs and BDOs of all four subdivisions and Heads of Offices of the district. Also present were officers from BRO, ITBP and Central Water Commission.
The meeting was held to discuss the roles and responsibilities of departments, preparedness, issues to combat the unforeseen disaster that may occur in the upcoming monsoon in the district and to prepare better coordination between line departments.
DC Mangan, began his note by commending the works and effort of all involved in the flash floods that occurred last October and stated that the anticipated monsoon may be more challenging and urged line departments to be stay vigilant throughout.
He instructed all line departments to identify nodal officers and to keep close coordination to handle disaster efficiently.
DC also stressed on the need to keep stock of essential commodities for vulnerable areas during the monsoon.
Interacting with the Heads of Offices of the district, he reviewed the areas on which the concerned departments function, additionally he enquired on the preparedness of line departments and reviewed other relevant issues. Officers from various departments updated their status of preparedness and also stated the challenges they havebeen facing, to which the DC assured support.
ADM Mangan Mr Vishu Lama read out the roles and responsibilities of each department and encouraged all to work in coordination for efficient results.
It was also suggested that villages and settlements in and around Toong, Naga and Rel be specifically looked into and all precautious to be taken in, keeping the safety and convenience of the public in mind. The DC requested that BRO place their man and machinery strategically and also suggested that disaster prone areas be identified and additional man power may be kept at bay.
Earlier the welcome address and later the vote of thanks was delivered by SDM Mangan Mr Pema Wangchen Namkarpa.
