Second day of Final Round of Training for Presiding and Polling Officers in Pakyong District

Pakyong, 10 April (IPR): The second day of the final round of training sessions for the Presiding and Polling Officers was conducted at the auditorium hall of Dikling Senior Secondary School, Pakyong.
Mr Tashi Chophel, DEO cum DC Pakyong, emphasised the significance of the training in comprehending and adhering to regulations and fulfilling duties with utmost dedication. He characterised the training as a pivotal refresher course and urged the participants to grasp the learning opportunities to boost their performance confidence.
He also stressed the importance of cooperation and mutual support among the Presiding Officers and Polling Officers I to VI to ensure a seamless election process and training period.
He focused on the critical nature of the sealing process and the closing procedures for the machines on election day, advising careful execution to prevent errors.
In conclusion, he conveyed his best wishes to all officers engaged in the electoral process, marking Pakyong’s inaugural General Election.
Ms Merina Rai, Joint Secretary, Election Cell, provided training on VVPAT/EVMs and other electoral activities, such as documentation and setting up polling booths, while outlining the responsibilities and precautions for Presiding Officers and the roles of Polling Officers I to VI.
Ms Tenzing Pema, District Level Master Trainer (DLMT), conducted practical demonstrations and mock drills, offering a comprehensive overview of the voting process.
AD IT Pakyong Mr Supratik Sharma, Mr Sital Sharma and Mr Harka Bahadur Lamichaney also gave a brief instructions to the trainees on the Traccar App, which will monitor the locations of the Presiding and Polling Officers once the EVMs are dispatched and in custody of the polling team.
The sessions featured interactive question-and-answer segments designed to fully equip the officers to uphold the integrity of the election.
The training session was also attended by Ms Anupa Tamling, ADC Pakyong; Mr Mahendra Chettri, SDM (Headquarters); and Mr Sandesh Subba, SDM Pakyong.
