Soreng, April 8 (IPR): As the district gears up for the upcoming General Elections 2024, the commissioning of Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) and Voter Verifiable Paper Audit Trial (VVPATs) for four Assembly Constituencies (ACs) and Assembly Segment (PC) under Soreng district were successfully concluded today at the District Control Room located at Government B. Ed. College, Soreng.
The commissioning process that began on April 5, was completed in four days wherein the first two days were dedicated to four ACs and one Sangha, the other two days were allocated for the State’s lone PC.
The entire process was done under the supervision of Ms Yishey D Yongda DEO/ DC Soreng and she was assisted by Mr Dhiraj Subedi Deputy DEO/ ADC Soreng along with the Returning Officer (ROs) and Assistant Returning Officer (AROs).
Ms. Neena Sharma IAS, General Observer for Soreng District frequently visited the District Control Room throughout the commissioning procedure.
During the procedure, the technical support was provided by three engineers from Electronic Corporation of India Limited (ECIL) deputed by the ECI.
As per the data given from the DEO’s Office, there are 67 polling stations in the district including 20 Women Friendly and 7 All Women booths and four Sangha booths. There are 60,609 voters in the district out which 254 have already cast their votes, facilitated through Home Voting with the effect from April 4 to April 8.
Lastly, after commissioning the Strong Room located at Government B. Ed. College has been sealed in the presence of DEO, Dy. DEO, ROs, officers and officials.
