Gyalshing, 02 Nov (IPR): Hon’ble Chief Minister Shri Pawan Chamling laid the foundation stone of the Community Health Center at Soreng PHC in West Sikkim. He was accompanied by Health Minister, Education Minister, RMDD Minister, UD&HD Minister, MLAs and other dignitaries and guests. The CM also inaugurated the 102/108 integrated 24×7 free ambulance service. The inaugurated toll free ambulance service is said to cover a 30-minute radius from villages to the First Referral Unit (FRU). The 102 toll free number is assigned for mothers and children while the 108 toll free number is assigned to the general patients.
In his address, the CM mentioned that the developmental activities including construction of hospitals, upgradation of health centres, appointment of doctors and health care professionals, CATCH programme and different facilities have been dedicated to the people of Sikkim. He urged the citizens to make full use of the services given to them by the Government. He asked the public to understand the role played the State to improve their lives and be healthy. He mentioned that the ambulances launched are full equipped for the public’s welfare.
Further, the CM requested the departmental employees to be determined and dedicated to provide quality health services to the patients. He also urged Panchayats to coordinate with concerned doctors to organise CATCH Programme in order to make the public of Sikkim healthier.
Commissioner-cum-Secretary, Health, Mr Vishal Chauhan, informed that the CHC will be constructed at an estimated cost of 8.39 crores completely under State plan.
The emergency transport services is provided to all beneficiaries free of cost. Anyone in need of this services can avail facilities by calling the toll free numbers 102 and 108.
