Gyalshing, April 4 (IPR): In a landmark initiative aimed at fostering inclusivity and accessibility in the democratic process, the Election Commission of India (ECI) has introduced Home Voting for senior citizens aged 85 and above, as well as People with Disabilities (PwD) through Postal Ballots for the upcoming General Elections, 2024.
Today marks the commencement of Day 1 of Home Voting for the General Elections, 2024 in Gyalshing. Under the guidance of Mr. M Bharani Kumaar, IAS, District Election Officer-cum-District Collector Gyalshing accompanied by Mr. S.K Alley, Nodal Officer for Postal Ballots, the District’s Polling Teams, led by Sector Magistrates, departed from the District Administrative Centre to their designated sectors.
Before embarking on their mission, the Home Voting Teams were equipped with necessary Polling kits at the Dispatch Centre, ensuring a smooth and efficient execution of the electoral process.
This historic step signifies a significant stride towards ensuring that every eligible citizen, regardless of age or physical ability, has the opportunity to exercise their fundamental right to vote.
