Kongri/Tashiding, 27 Oct (IPR): Six micro villages under geographically difficult area of Gangyap in West Sikkim have been bestowed with new Primary Health Sub Centre today. Earlier, the PHSC was running in a rented house for last 28 years since 1990.
Hon’ble Minister for Health Care Human Services & Family Welfare Department, Mr. Arjun Kumar Ghatani, inaugurated the newly constructed PHSC in the presence of Area MLA of Yuksam Tashiding constituency, Mr. Sonam Dadul Bhutia, at Gangyap.
The newly constructed six-roomed PHSC has OPD section, Labour room, dressing room, Maternal and Child Health, Antenatal Care and Postnatal Care section. The construction work was commenced in April 2015 at sectioned cost of Rs. 19,72,200.
After the inauguration, the Health Minister interacted with the people and the staff of the health centre and highlighted developmental activities carried out by the government in health sector since 1994. He said that the new PHSC is a historic achievement the people of the Gangyap and its peripheral areas and further urged community for cooperation to maintain newly inaugurated departmental asset for the benefit of the local people. He also assured to act promptly further to provide additional medical facilities at the earliest.
Thereafter, Mr. Ghatani along with the Area MLA, Yuksam Tashiding constituency, Mr. Bhutia, made an inspection visit to far-reaching area of West district and visited Kongri PHSC.
The Health Minister meticulously inspected every section including injection & dressing room, Out Patient Department, Labour Room, Maternal and Child Health Clinic of the health centre. He also visited Class 3 – two unit quarter and Class four – single unit quarter and further instructed concerned officials to carry out renovation work of existing infrastructures which are at repairable stage. He interacted with the staff and took stock on number of patients visiting health centre, institutional delivery and disease prevalence in the peripheral areas.
During an interaction, it was decided to organise Chief Ministers Comprehensive Annual and Total Check up for Healthy Sikkim (CATCH) Programme on 16 November 2018 at Kongri PHSC. The Minister advised to incorporate component of IEC/counselling to generate awareness massively on Mental Health, institutional delivery, HPV Vaccine Tuberculosis amidst thorough health check-up after complete mobilisation of the community as envisioned by Chief Minister Mr. Pawan Chamling.
Later, Mr Ghatani visited Tashiding Primary Health Centre while plying down from Kongri PHSC, West Sikkim in the evening. He thoroughly visited each and every ward including Maternal and Child Health Clinic, Emergency ward, OT, Dressing Room, Male Ward, Female Ward, Isolation ward, Labour room and Store. He took stock on availability of medicines and other medical facilities and further assured to fulfill demands of X-Ray machine, lavatory for staff, and manpower for laboratory investigations. He advised Panchayats to cultivate organic vegetables in unoccupied land of the health centre.
He also articulated vision of Chief Minister Mr. Pawan Chamling to avail medical facilities in all nook and corner and far-flung areas in the State of Sikkim.
The Minister was accompanied by Zilla Panchayat, Kongri Labdang Tashiding territory, Smt. M.M. Shanker, Panchayats, Principal Director, Dr Pempa T. Bhutia, Chief Medical Officer, West, Dr. Tsheten Namgyal, Superintending Engineer, Mr. Basant Tamang, officials and others.
