Mangan, October 12 (IPR): A total of 43 families received an ex-gratia amount of Rs. 1,35,000/- each for the loss of property due to the recent disaster.
The cheques were given to the affected families from the hands of Minister, Roads, Shri Samdup Lepcha and DC Mangan Shri Hem Kumar Chettri on Wednesday. Also present were SP Mangan, SDM Chungthang, Zilla and Panchayat Members, Officials from LR&DM, and the public.
Before handing the ex-gratia, the Minister interacted with the stranded tourists and migrant labourers and informed them about the arrangements made by the state government to ensure that they were evacuated safe. He also informed the public regarding the progress of the evacuation process and the relief material being sent by the government. He informed them that the Chief Minister is deeply concerned and impacted by the devastation and has ensured complete help to the public affected by the disaster.
He further thanked them for their efforts in these dire times and urged the public and officers on the field to work cooperatively.
The DC (Mangan) also assured that all possible help will be given to them, and the district administration is continuously working round the clock for the public’s safety being their priority.
SP (Mangan) also took stock of the situation and encouraged the officials on duty for their services. He also met and interacted with DIG Range, who has been present there aiding and directing the officials on duty.
It may be mentioned that the teams of District Administration, Sikkim Police, Indian Army, NDRF, SDRF, IRBn, ITBP, and volunteers from different organisations are working round the clock to ensure that the evacuation process is completed at the earliest.
