Gangtok, 20.09.2023 (SCERT)An Orientation Programme of Block Resource Co-ordinators (BRCCs) on National Curriculum Framework (NCF – FS) 2022 was organized on Wednesday, 20th of September 2023. The orientation was organised under the aegis of the State Leadership Academy, SCERT, Gangtok wherein 29 BRCCs from different Educational Blocks of the State participated. The programme revolved around the various aspects of NCF-FS 2022 concerned with the foundational stage of education.
Ms. Larissa Lepcha, Resource Person, SCERT and members of State Resource Group (SRG) of State Leadership Academy (SLA) were the resource persons for the programme. Shri T B Chhetri, Principal placed the introductory remarks regarding the orientation. Shri Basudev Adhikari, Principal, welcomed the participants and briefed them about the sessions.
The first session was conducted by Ms. Larissa Lepcha – Resource Person, SCERT on Introduction and Preamble of the NCF-FS framework. She talked about the curriculum framework developed for foundational stage. This was followed by a session on Pedagogy of Language and Literacy conducted by Shri Ajay Pokhrel – Resource Person, SCERT cum Nodal Officer, State Leadership Academy. In the session, he briefed the participants about the principles and approaches to Language and Literacy at the Foundational Stage along with the various components of Early Language and Literacy, Strategies that support emergent literacy and the 4 Block Approach for Literacy instruction.
A session on Pedagogy and Principles of Numeracy and Organising Time was conducted by Shri Suraj Kumar Sharma, Resource Person, SCERT. He briefed the participants on various components and approaches of teaching of numeracy at foundation level. During the session, guidelines on instructional time table in line with recommendations of NCF-FS 2022 which was issued by Education Department was also discussed. Queries regarding various components of the time table was raised by the participants which was answered by the resource persons.
Shri Basudev Adhikari, Resource Person, SCERT conducted the session on creating a supportive ecosystem in schools to enable the implementation of the guidelines effectively. He talked about the roles of academic and administrative functionaries.
Interaction between the participants and the resource persons was also held during the workshop.
The orientation ended with vote of thanks proposed by Shri Dhiraj Sharma, Resource Person, SCERT. The programme was conducted and compered by Shri T B Chhetri – Resource Person SCERT.
