Namchi, 21st June(IPR): A preparatory meeting for the upcoming Bhanu Jayanti, 2023 was conducted at the Conference Hall of District Administrative Centre, Namchi, today. DC (Namchi) Mr. M. Bharani Kumar chaired the meeting.
Present at the meeting were ADC (Dev) Dr. C.P. Rai, SDM (Headquarters) Mr. Chiran Rizal, ASP(Namchi) Mr. Parshu Sharma and other officials from the line departments along with the members of Dakshin Sikkim Sahitya Samelan, who is the organising committee.
The DC assigned responsibilities and tasks regarding the venue, arrangement, seating, decoration, invitations to the officials and representatives from the line departments. The tentative programme agenda was also discussed with the committee and those present.
It may be mentioned that Bhanu Jayati falls on 13th July and the celebration will follow the annual tradition of garlanding and paying homage to the poet at Bhanu Saheli premises along with a procession (Shoba Yatra) around the town vicinity, followed by a main event at Officer’s Club, Namchi.
It was informed that this year’s celebration will host various competitions for school students,which will begin from 11th July until 13th July. Some of the competitions will include, Ramayan path, Poem Recitation, sit and drawing/painting contests and folk dances.
