Soreng, April 11(IPR): An interactive meeting with the local community along with district officials, to review the status of the schemes and policies that are being implemented in Zoom under Soreng district was held at Village Administrative Centre, Zoom today.
The meeting was chaired by the DC, Shri Bhim Thatal. Also present at the meeting were Zilla Panchayats, Panchayats, ADC, Shri Dhiraj Subedi, ADC (Development), Shri Gaayas Pega, DPO (Zilla), Shri Dilip Sharma, BDO, Baiguney, Smt. Babita Rai, HODs, Officers and Staff of line department, along with SGHs members and the local community.
Addressing the gathering, the DC praised Soreng’s performance and achievements as district within a span of one year. Adding to this he also informed about the district’s initiative of Adoption of Government-run schools by Officers and One day at School along with Government’s vision and the District’s approach to Aaganma Prashasan or Door-step governance. He reiterated that to discuss issues and grievances of the public, the concept of Aaganma Prashasan will be religiously practiced by the administrative body. Furthermore, he also laid down the detailed provisions of an Aspirational district, informing them of Soreng’s status as one. He categorize five main components of an aspirational district and elaborately explained each of the components.
One of the major components under aspirational district programme that was discussed thoroughly was road connectivity and infrastructure under Zoom Panchayat Units. He was appraised about the status of Fair Weather Roads and PMGSY by the concerned officials. He further enquired about the reasons for in-complete works and other tangible disturbances that have delayed the works.
Likewise, reviewing the agendas that were discussed in previously held meeting, the DC enquired about the current status of Jal Jeevan Mission in the areas. He emphasized on the necessity to make drinking water accessible to every household under the programme. Thus, urging all the stakeholders for timely completion of the mega project. Addressing issues of water shortages in the area, Shri Thatal instructed to ensure proper monitoring of water sources, equal water distribution and to inspect unauthorized water connectivity or illegal tapping of water in each household. In continuation, he also advised the engineers and BFEs to take into consideration the technical aspect and geographical features of the area while laying down water pipelines. Adding that awareness about any public works related schemes is a must, he informed that failing to complete the JJM within the time stipulated by the Centre Government will have major consequences.
The public also put forth their grievances and issues related to water scarcity and improper road connectivity.
Upon hearing the grievances, the DC encouraged the community to initiate suggestions and solutions to resolve. He underlined that the maintenance and sustaining any development or progressive projects must be done by the public without any biases. He also urged the Panchayats and BDOs to work as an interface between the Government and the public to make coordinated efforts for better governance. He acknowledged that the development of the district has been continuous and steady wherein participation from the local community has played greater role.
