Soreng, March 31(IPR): DC Soreng, Shri Bhim Thatal chaired the quarterly meeting of District Level Consultative Committee (DLCC) with the bankers of Soreng district here at his chamber, today.
The meeting was held to discuss various agendas and review the action plan that were introduced in previously held meeting.
During the meeting, the DC cum Chairperson, DLCC enquired about the actives that were carried out by the banks under Financial Literacy Camps (FLC). Unsatisfied with the results, the DC has instructed more rigorous participation from the banks in conducting FLCs and outreach programs in each block in coordination with the respective Panchayats and BDOs.
The DC reiterated that financial inclusion being one of the five important focus sectors under the Aspirational District, the banks were advised to focus primarily in generating awareness amongst the masses through such outreach camps and programs. He acknowledged the efforts made by the stakeholders including Crisil Foundation in conducting FLCs in 12 GPUs under the district and urged them to cover all the 36 GPUs at the earliest.
An extensive discussions was held with context to various schemes and policies for beneficiaries under Agriculture and allied Sector, MSME Sectors and Non-priority Sectors. Here, the DC suggested to focus more on lending credits to the eligible beneficiaries through Kisan Credit Card loans.
Shri Thatal also highlighted the District’s initiative of One Day at a School and suggested to hold awareness camps at schools and educational institutes and encourage students to open accounts for their benefits. He further encouraged the bankers to promote and practice the District’s concept of My district, My Priority and make financial services accessible to each household through Aaganma Prasashan or Door-step Governance.
The meeting had the attendance of Shri Gopal Lama, LDM, Lead Bank/ SBI, Shri Rahul Verma, LDO/ Manager, RBI, Shri D.R Sharma, Assistant Director, MSME-DFO, Gangtok, Shri Rupen Lamichhaney, AGM, NABARD, along with Officials from DIC and various Bank representatives under Soreng district.
