Soreng, March 29 (IPR): DC Soreng cum Chairperson, Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM) Shri Bhim Thatal chaired a review meeting on JJM with the ADC (Development), BDOs, SE, AEs, JEs and other officers from Rural Development Department at his chamber, today.
Present at the meeting were Shri Gaayas Pega, ADC (Development), Shri Sonam Tshering Bhutia, DE (Zilla), BDOs and AEs of all six blocks under Soreng district.
The meeting included an extensive report on the current status of JJM under each block, the issues faced during the process, status on Functional Household Tap Connection (FHTC) and the completion of all works within the targeted date as directed by the District Collector.
Reviewing the current status of JJM in the district, the DC urged the stakeholders to achieve the target of completing all related works within the stipulated time. He also advised on streamlining all projects of each block, under the district to be done at the earliest. Other related matters were discussed elaborately, such as transfer of documents from erstwhile West district, bill clearance of contractors, issues on land disputes to be resolved and expedited without any delay. Furthermore, he advised the officials to encourage the local community in taking conscious decision and participation for accessibility to natural resources such as water.
Citing examples, the DC reiterated that the genuine efforts and determined attempt is the key in achieving the success and longevity of any scheme. Thus, he has directed that concerned officials from each block to hold meetings with the stakeholders on frequent intervals and forward the updated data to the DC. He instructed the officials to inform the concerned contractors to complete the works within the prescribed date.
Furthermore, he also advised to have an effective dialogue with the local people and discuss upon their grievances and doubts. Administrative issues must be resolved by the officials upon discussion with the DC, he added. He highlighted that the concept of ‘My District, My Priority’ must be rigorously practised and promoted by all the Officers and staff from the district.
