Shri V. B. Pathak and Shri Harsh Vardhan Shringla, IFS, Chief Coordinator for India’s G20 Presidency chaired a meeting

Gangtok, December 16: Shri V. B. Pathak, IAS, Chief Secretary of Sikkim and Shri Harsh Vardhan Shringla, IFS, Chief Coordinator for India’s G20 Presidency chaired a meeting on 16.12.2022 on the preparation and coordination of the State for the upcoming G20 meetings in the State in the month of March 2023.
Mr. Shringla arrived to Sikkim on a one day visit. During his visit he met with the Chief Secretary. The meeting was attended by the HoDs and officers of Police,Tourism, Culture, RDD, UDD, GMC and Protocol, Home Department at the conference hall of Tashiling Secretariat.
During the meeting the Chief Coordinator gave a brief presentation on the preparation and activities for G20 Presidency in the country. He informed the house that the Hon’ble Prime Minister has desired that the G20 Presidency be an impeccable and “uniquely Indian” event showcasing and highlighting the diverse Indian Culture, history, traditions and developmental achievements made by the country. In this direction it has been decided to host the 215 odd meetings of various groups of G20 in 56 cities across the country, he informed. He further informed that Sikkim will be the only state in the North East to host two meetings viz. Business (B20) on 16th March, 2023 and Startup 20 on 18th March, 2023 considering its scenic beauty and infrastructure including accommodation facilities available. These meetings will be attended by around 80 delegates from G20 countries.
The nitty gritty pertaining to accommodation, security, venues for meetings, transportation, cultural events and other requirements were also discussed.
At the end the Chief Coordinator sought support from the state government to make the events in the state successful.
The Chief Secretary assured him that the State government will make the G20 events in Sikkim a memorable one for the delegates.
