Namchi,21st September: On 24/08/22, a complaint was received at Namchi PS stating that the victim, a resident of Namchi was duped and ended up transferring Rs 61,000/- in a case of cheating and cyber fraud on an online platform.
As is the case with cyber frauds, the money was layered through several bank accounts and other financial service providers. However, the able officers of District Cyber Cell & Namchi PS, led by ASP Ankur Ankesh, IPS and PI Samir Subba tracked the money and the associated money trail and initiated the process for reversal and recovery of the amount. As a result, till date, 95% of the total cheated amount (RS 57,903/-) has been recovered and credited to the victim’s account. Work is still going on.
We take this opportunity to inform the general public to not be lured by any attractive offers displayed on online platforms as often they are a trap set up by cyber criminals. The citizens are also advised not to click on any unverified links. Citizens are advised to verify well before making any payments. In case of any fraud or cyber crime, citizens should contact the nearest PS immediately
