20th Sept, Mangan (IPR): The 15-day training on value addition of Cardamom fibre concluded successfully at Passingdang VDVK, today.
MLA Dzongu Mr Pintso Namgyal Lepcha attended the closing day along with Senior AO Mr Y.K. Pradhan, Nodal Officer, Ward Panchayats and members of Passingdang VDVK.
MLA touched upon the subject of marketing and the need to become self-reliant through the scheme. He assured possible assistance from the authorities advocating the idea of ‘Vocal for Local’.
The training focused on the traditional method of extraction, processing, spinning and knitting of the Cardamom fibre into finished products such as table mats, eco-friendly yoga mats, button flower, etc.
The objective of the training was to promote craft in cardamom plantation areas and impart skill training among the SHG members, to enable them to independently produce quality Cardamom fibre.
During the programme, a Certificate of participation was also accorded to the trainees.
