A review meeting of the District Narco Coordination (NCORD) Committee

Gyalshing, 31st August (IPR): A review meeting of the District Narco Coordination (NCORD) Committee for the Gyalshing District was held at the Conference Hall of DAC, Rabdentse. District Collector Gyalshing Smt Yishey D. Yongda chaired as District Level Head of the NCORD Committee.
The meeting also had the presence and participation of ADC Gyalshing, ASP Gyalshing, SDM Gyalshing, Dy. CO
36th Battalion SSB Seema Bal, SDM Yuksam, SDM Dentam Shri N.K. Karki, Dy. Director Education, Senior Welfare Officer, ADO Horticulture, Consultant (ENT), District Hospital Gyalshing.
DC Gyalshing expressed deep concern over the illicit activities being intercepted in recent times and commended Gyalshing Police Department for their crucially active role in tackling and containing the menace of narcotics in the district. In order to prevent the rampant growth of marijuana in the places of concern, she advised for timely raids by all the stakeholders in close coordination in places where the tendency of recurring instances of breach in relevant law is witnessed. She even informed the House about the directives of the Hon’ble Supreme Court for setting up a dedicated room in DAC premises wherein seized exhibits are to be stored under safe custody inside a vault. In this regard an appropriate space has already been identified.
ADC Gyalshing enquired about redressal activities carried out by the concerned departmental personnel and representatives from 36 BN SSB Yangtey in the district and suggested the line department officials to coordinate with police personnel in various operations and stressed the importance of awareness and sensitization to the public. He also encouraged Education Dept to activate the anti-drugs clubs in every school and conduct monthly sensitization programs in all schools regularly.
ASP Gyalshing informed on the recently cracked SADA case in the district and it’s present status. He further informed that after Interception a case under the relevant clause of SADA was registered and for further investigation through expert consultation the seized exhibits were sent to the Regional Forensic Lab Ranipool.
The main motive of the constituted regulatory committees’ is to assess a comprehensive combating strategy to tackle and establish stringent provisions for control, regulation, and supervision of the illegal possession, sale, transit, and consumption of narcotic drugs and psychotropic substances through applied legal parameters under the Narcotics Drugs and Psychotropic Substance, NDPS Act 1985.
