Soreng, July 26(IPR): As a part of the ongoing celebration of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav, the office of the Civil Supplies under the department of Food and Civil Supplies in coordination with SISCO bank organized an awareness programme on Public Distribution System at Soreng Bazar Haat Ghar, today.
The Chief Guest for the day was Zilla Panchayat, Shri Bhakta Prashad Sharma and accompanying him were Panchayats, SDM, Shri Ranjan Rai, DCSO, Shri J.M Subba, Officials from line department and SISCO Bank along with local vendors including government fair price shop owners.
Chief Guest Shri Bhakta Prashad Sharma briefly speaking to the stakeholders, shared few grievances put forth by the shop owners and addressed issues that were causing hindrance to doing business. He urged the department officials and local vendors to work in tandem in providing uninterrupted services to the consumers.
Shri Ranjan Rai addressing the program as a Guest Speaker stressed on the importance of following proper covid protocol while carrying out their businesses. Highlighting the issue of uneven distribution of schemes, he said that the concerned officials must sort out genuine consumers amongst the beneficiaries. He also urged the public to consciously unhand their benefits for those belonging to weaker socio-economic section of the society. He advised the shop owners to be aware about the legal provisions of the law while discouraging the practice of unfair pricing.
Addressing as the resource person for the programme, Shri J.M Subba spoke extensively on the Consumer Right Act, 2013. He said that the act provides the entitled schemes and benefits to all valid citizens. He also highlighted few of the benefits under the Public Distribution System. He emphasized on delivering the consumption safety food products for the consumers, by the vendors.
Earlier, AD (Civil Supplies) Shri Dushyant Dhital imparted a comprehensive information on National Food Security Act, 2013, PMGKAY and One Nation One Ration Card. Thus, encouraging the public to be aware about the schemes that are relevant for them.
Manager, SISCO bank also briefly addressed the audience wherein he spoke on the concept of practicing the Common Service Centre in Government Fair Price Shops in order to provide maximum facilities to the consumers. Enumerating all the facilities that can be catered through CSC, he informed that proper and timely training will be conducted to the service providers by the bank
