Gangtok, Feb 16 (IPR): Chief Minister Shri Prem Singh Tamang condoles the demise of the acclaimed and celebrated Indian singer Bappi Lahiri. He has expressed his profound grief on the passing away of the distinguished singer.
Bappi Lahiri was a renowned musician, singer, composer, and record producer who also popularised Disco music in India.
The Chief Minister has expressed that the passing away of the celebrated singer is an irreparable loss to the nation, and his contributions to Indian Disco Music remains unforgettable.
The Chief Minister has also extended his sincere condolence to the acclaimed singer’s family and friends and has prayed for the departed soul to rest in eternal peace.
Lahiri was born to a Bengali Brahmin family. Both his parents Aparesh Lahiri and Bansuri Lahiri were Bengali singers and musicians in classical music and Shyama Sangeet. He was their only child. His relatives include his maternal uncle the legendary playback singer Kishore Kumar.
