Gangtok, October 8 (IPR): Secretary, Social Justice and Welfare Department (SJ&WD), Shri Tshewang Gyachho launched an online scholarship portal for the students at his office in Lumsey, today.
The Secretary informed that the online portal can be visited by the students through socialwelfarescholarships.sikkim.gov.in. A tutorial video will play automatically when a person enters the website. It is meant for post-matric and pre-matric students belonging to Scheduled Tribe, Scheduled Caste, Economically Backward Classes and Central OBC. The students belonging to parents with cleaning and prone to health hazards are eligible for the pre-matric scholarships, he added.
He further informed that the students who fall under the Minority Affair Scholarship scheme have to visit the separate portal i.e. scholarships.gov.in. The eligibility of students is also done through family income, which must not exceed Rs. 2.5 lakh, annually. The last date for admission is November 30, 2021.
Secretary requested the eligible students to take full advantage of the scheme provided by the Government of Sikkim. He further asked the students to utilise this opportunity and avoid errors when inserting details as the new portal is dynamic and user-friendly.
The Secretary was accompanied by Director, SJ & WD, Smt. Karma Sonam Bhutia, Additional Director, SJ & WD, Shri Suman Gurung and AD, IT Cell, SJ & WD, Shri Vaishnav Gajmer and concerned officials.
